THE BENFITS OF PLACINIG A TREADMAT UNDER A TREADMILL
Many people put a treadmat under their treadmill for aesthetic
purposes only. The black rectangles do catch the eye and help to make a room
look neat and organized.
Besides the aesthetic appeal of treadmats, they offer
other benefits as well. The obvious perquisite is that they go a long way
toward protecting floor coverings by keeping the treadmill's feet and elevation
wheels from coming into direct contact with carpets, tiles or hardwood flooring.
They can also prevent sweat, lubricants and grime from working their way
into carpets, which may cause permanent marks or discoloration. Mats are
also available for other pieces of cardio exercise equipment, such as cross
trainers, bikes, recumbent bikes, steppers and rowers, where they serve the
same purpose. They also make it easier to clean the area under and around
treadmills, which should be done on a regular basis. Without an easy to clean
treadmat installed, it is easier for dust and carpet fibers to get sucked
up into the motor compartment of a treadmill or onto the inside of the running
belt which will cause premature wear.
Treadmats also help to muffle the inevitable noise
that treadmills generate and reduce the vibrations can eventually loosen
hardware or electrical connections.
If you choose to use a mat under your treadmill, be
sure that it is a vinyl treadmat and not a rubber treadmat. Over a period
of time, a rubber mat may stain some carpets or other flooring.
